Random Magic Cover Contest

Contest: Re-imagining the cover of Random Magic
hosted by  LA FEMME READERS

Book Random Magic
Author: Sasha Soren
Current Cover:

When absent-minded Professor Random misplaces the main character from Alice in Wonderland, young Henry Witherspoon must book-jump to fetch Alice before chaos theory kicks in and the world vanishes. Along the way he meets Winnie Flapjack, a wit-cracking doodle witch with nothing to her name but a magic feather and a plan. Such as it is. Henry and Winnie brave the Dark Queen, whatwolves, pirates, Struths, and fluttersmoths, Priscilla and Charybdis, obnoxiously cheerful vampires, Baron Samedi, a nine-dimensional cat, and one perpetually inebriated Muse to rescue Alice and save the world by tea time.

Another Cover Contest...

This design is for another cover contest. This is not commissioned or paid artwork.

Hosting the contest: My Overstuffed Bookshelf
The Mission: Recreate the cover of Ghost Town by Rachel Caine

The Original Book:
The fragile peace between humans and vampires in Morganville is in trouble, and when Claire takes drastic action, she's put under serious pressure to re-establish the barriers that keep the town residents inside, and wipe the memories of those who leave. But working with her half-crazy vampire boss Myrnin means that things don't always turn out as planned ... and as the people of Morganville begin acting strangely, Claire and her friends must solve the mystery and try to put things right. But one by one, her allies are turning on her ... even the ones she trusts most.

So here is my take of Ghost Town. I have not read this book but I have read the first two in the series.

The Mission: Recreate the cover of Minder by Kate Kaynak

The Original Book:
"Sixteen-year-old Maddie Dunn is special, but she needs to figure out how to use her new abilities before somebody else gets hurt. Ganzfield is a secret training facility full of people like her, but it's not exactly a nurturing place. Every social interaction carries the threat of mind-control. A stray thought can burn a building to the ground. And people's nightmares don't always stay in their own heads. But it's still better than New Jersey--especially once she meets the man of her dreams..."

Physical description of Maddie: green eyes, straight brown hair, small build, short (5 ft 3)

So here is my take of Minder. I have not read this book so please do not throw tomatoes at me if I didn't catch the feel.

I submitted a cover for J.A. Saare's upcoming release...Crimson Sunrise. Let's just hope that her publishers allows her to submit her own artwork. She says it is unlikely, because TWRP is kind of strict about cover art but a girl can dream right?

Typography & Moonshine...

I put a lot of emphasis on the typography in some of my latest designs. I had ran across a fun TYPOGRAPHY poster that had just the big text in a unique layout, so I wanted to see how it would look on a blog design. I think it worked out well with THE CHRONICLES OF EMILY CROSS, because with the girl, tree, moon and forest, gaudy thick and thin text might have been over-powering.

I also translated it to the blog button, which is actually probably my favorite blog button that I have designed. Let me know what you think!

Sexy New Design Launches

The latest design is for Romance Author Lisa Sanchez. I had the opportunity to also read her book for Eve of Samhain so I think it gave me a little more "behind the scenes" input to whip out a hot design for her. What do you think?

One of my favorite designs in awhile...

I think I'm in love with the sofa... or maybe because it has been awhile that I've done something that is not in tones of blacks, LOL. I can really do the creepy well, so it is fun to show people that I have a softer side ;)
